Benefit Recap
- Medical / Dental / Vision / Life Insurance - Employee premiums are paid 100% and employees have a choice between a traditional PPO plan and a high-deductible plan. Dependent coverage is available through payroll deduction.
- Dependent Medical - The City pays 65% of the medical premiums for dependents.
- Retirement Plan - Participant in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). Both the city and the employee contribute to the plan. The employee contribution is 7% and the city matches 14%. Employees vest after 5 years and are eligible for retirement after 20 years.
- Sick Leave - Sick leave is accrued on the basis of eight hours per month and is available as employees accrue the time.
- Holidays - 12 paid holidays annually.
- Vacation Plan - Non-Sworn, Sworn Police- Vacation time accrues monthly with 80 hours accrued during each of the first and second years. The number of vacation hours increases each year after that by 8 hours for the next 12 years. Fire Suppression Sworn- Vacation time accrues at the rate of 112.32 hours accrued during each of the first and second years. The number of vacation hours increases each year after that by 11.52 hours for the next 12 years.
- Longevity Pay - Paid upon completion of one year of employment.
- Deferred Compensation - This provides eligible employees with voluntary investment options designed to supplement income at retirement. There is no city contribution, but employees have flexibility in setting up or changing a pre-tax contribution from their earnings to that account.
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - Dependent health insurance premiums can be deducted from an employee's pre-taxed income. Employees may also participate in flexible spending accounts by setting aside pre-tax income to pay for unreimbursed health expenses.
- Health Savings Account (HSA) - Employees who choose the high deductible plan are provided a health savings account to use for out-of-pocket medical expenses.
- Social Security, Medicare, and Workers' Compensation - The city participates in these plans.
